Magnetic Levitating Spinning Top, Floating Gyro Desk Toy

Spin the polished metal top, lift it gently off its clear plate and watch it hover in mid-air above the magnetic base. This levitating spinning top uses nothing but permanent magnets and gyroscopic stability to float with no visible support, making it a captivating physics demonstration and an eye-catching piece of desk decor.

Key Features

• Real magnetic levitation: the spinning top floats above the base, held up by magnetic repulsion and kept steady by its own spin.
• No batteries or power needed: works purely with magnets, so you can use it anywhere.
• Metal spinning top: chrome-finish stem and polished silver disc with a rounded tip for a smooth, balanced spin.
• Square blue magnetic base: matte base with an embossed octagonal pattern and two small side tabs.
• Clear lift plate included: gives the top a level surface to spin on before you raise it into the floating position.
• Hands-on science: a fun way to explore magnetism, balance and gyroscopic motion at home, at school or in the office.

How to Use

1. Place the base on a flat, level surface with no metal or magnetic objects nearby.
2. Lay the clear lift plate on the base.
3. Spin the top firmly by its stem, aligning its tip with the centre of the base.
4. Slowly raise the plate until the top lifts off and floats, then remove the plate.

Finding the balance point takes a little practice, which is part of the fun. Once the top slows down, it gently drops back onto the base.
